THE PROJECT
A full bathroom refurbishment in a compact North London room — existing sanitaryware and finishes stripped out and replaced with a modern, coordinated scheme, finished and commissioned ready to use.
WHAT THE CLIENT WANTED
The existing bathroom was dated and awkward to use. The fittings were tired, the finishes were mismatched, and the room felt smaller than it actually was. The client wanted a clean, contemporary bathroom that worked properly day to day — a decent bath and shower, somewhere to store things, and a floor and walls that were easy to keep clean — without extending or moving walls.
HOW WE RAN IT
Because the footprint was fixed, the gains had to come from the layout and the finishes. We kept the bath along the longest wall and paired it with a black-framed screen so the shower reads as part of the room rather than a separate box, and chose a vanity unit that hides the pipework and gives storage without crowding the WC. Tiling was set out so cuts fall in the corners, and plumbing alterations were made before any finishes went on, so nothing had to be opened up again later.
TILING SET OUT PROPERLY
The walls were prepared and the tiling set out from the centre lines, so full tiles land where the eye goes and the cuts sit tight in the corners and behind fittings. Sealing was left until everything was fixed and tested. The result is a bathroom that looks deliberate rather than fitted around obstacles, and — more importantly — one where water goes where it should and the joints stay sound.
